Fresh off winning the Ghana Premier League title, Medeama head coach Ibrahim Tanko has declared that preparations for the club's CAF Champions League campaign must begin immediately, vowing that his side will perform better on the continent than in previous outings.
Speaking after his team's emphatic 5-2 victory over Heart of Lions that sealed the championship, Tanko made it clear that there is no time to rest on their laurels.
"No, I think it should start today because we have to plan our Champions League. So definitely we have to start preparing from now. There is no time," Tanko said.
The coach acknowledged that the upcoming World Cup break will provide a window for preparation but stressed that planning cannot wait.
"There is a World Cup that we are going to have a space, so definitely we are going to prepare very well so that... we are going to do better in Africa," he added.
Medeama have struggled to make a significant impact in continental competitions in recent seasons, but Tanko is determined to change that narrative. With the league title secured, the club's focus now shifts to representing Ghana on the African stage.
For Tanko and his charges, the message is clear: domestic success is just the beginning. The real test lies ahead.
