Canadian-Ghanaian midfielder Stephen Afrifa scored the dramatic winner as Sporting Kansas City came from behind to beat Austin FC 2-1 at Q2 Stadium in a thrilling MLS Round 14 encounter.
Austin took the lead just before halftime when Mikkel Desler netted in the 45+1st minute, assisted by Guilherme Biro, giving the hosts a deserved advantage going into the break.
The game turned in the second half. Manu GarcÃa equalized for Sporting KC in the 79th minute, converted with an assist from Magomed-Shapi Suleymanov. Just three minutes later, Afrifa sealed the victory in the 82nd minute with the decisive goal, completing the comeback.
Afrifa, who entered the match as a 75th-minute substitute replacing Taylor Calheira, delivered a powerful contribution off the bench. The 2026 MLS season has been a breakthrough campaign for Afrifa, who has made 11 appearances, scored 1 goal, and provided 1 assist.
