Kwadwo Asamoah was the man who set FK PanevÄžys on their way as the Lithuanian side beat Atmosfera Mažeikiai 3-0 in the LFF Cup round of 16.
The Ghanaian attacker struck in the 32nd minute, giving PanevÄžys the lead and the confidence to control the game from there.
PanevÄžys stayed in front through halftime, then doubled their advantage in the 72nd minute through Elivelto Ribeiro Dantas. Marko BaÄanin finished the job in the 84th minute to seal a comfortable away win and a place in the next round. Asamoah’s early goal proved crucial, as Atmosfera never really recovered.
The result was a strong statement from PanevÄžys, who handled the match with discipline after going ahead. Asamoah’s opener also highlighted his growing importance to the team, with his movement and finishing giving them an early edge when the game was still open.
PanevÄžys now turn their attention back to the Lithuanian TOPLYGA, where they will face Banga in their next match. That league fixture should offer another chance for Asamoah to build on his cup goal and keep his momentum going.
