Black Starlets head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has called for focus and determination as Ghana prepare for a decisive FIFA U17 World Cup qualification play-off against Uganda.
The team will face their former coach and former Ghana international, Laryea Kingston, who coaches Uganda.
Ghana will face Uganda after finishing third in Group D at the U17 Africa Cup of Nations, with both sides battling for one of Africa’s remaining qualification slots for the global tournament in Qatar.
Ogum stressed the significance of the occasion and the motivation it brings to his squad.
“Very important because it gives the team the ticket to compete at the World Cup. I mean, it is a dream of every player, every coach, everybody to be at the World Cup,” he said.
“So, the value, the weight that it carries is so high, so important, so significant that we are all ready and we are all poised to go extra miles,” he stated.
The Black Starlets enter the fixture buoyed by their 3-1 win over South Africa but fully aware that only victory will secure a place at the World Cup.
The winner of the Ghana-Uganda clash will join other African representatives at the global youth tournament later this year.
