Hearts of Oak are chasing the signature of Debibi United midfielder Demetrius Sarkodie, as the Phobians look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
Sarkodie, who played a key role in Debibi United's historic promotion to the Ghana Premier League, has emerged as a target for the capital-based giants.
The 26-year-old midfielder scored the winning goal in Debibi's crucial 1-0 victory over Berekum Arsenal during their title-winning campaign in Zone One B of the Division One League. His performances in the heart of midfield helped the club secure promotion for the first time in their history.
Hearts of Oak are hopeful of completing the deal as they look to revamp their squad following a disappointing campaign. The Phobians narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the season and have already begun restructuring their playing personnel.
The club's interest in Sarkodie is part of a broader recruitment drive. Hearts have also been linked with a move for former AshantiGold midfielder Seth Osei and have submitted offers for Basake Holy Stars winger Prince Tweneboah, with Medeama SC and Aduana FC also in the race for the young attacker.
However, the Phobians face complications on the transfer front. The club remains under a FIFA-imposed transfer ban following the unresolved case with former coach Rene Hiddink, which could impact their ability to register new players for the upcoming season. The club is appealing the decision as they work to resolve the matter.
Talks with Debibi United are ongoing as Hearts push to secure Sarkodie's signature. The midfielder would add experience and steel to a Hearts midfield that struggled for consistency throughout the 2025/26 campaign.
