Outgoing SC Freiburg midfielder Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the club following his departure, reflecting warmly on his time in Germany despite a injury-hit spell.
Speaking after an emotional farewell ceremony held by Freiburg on Friday, the Ghana international said he is happy about his experience at the club, particularly highlighting the support he received throughout his difficult recovery from a serious ACL injury.
"I am happy about my time in Freiburg. The team has always supported me, and recently I was taken aback by how the lads in the U23s welcomed me," Kyereh said.
The 30-year-old joined Freiburg from FC St Pauli in July 2022 with high expectations, but a devastating knee injury sidelined him for nearly three years, limiting him to just 18 appearances across all competitions.
Despite the setbacks, Kyereh fought his way back to fitness and recently showed glimpses of his quality with Freiburg's U23 side, registering two goals and two assists in eight matches.
Kyereh will officially become a free agent on July 1. While his time at Freiburg did not go as planned, his appreciation for the club's unwavering support remains clear.
He now looks ahead to the next chapter of his career, hoping to rediscover the form that once made him one of Ghana's most exciting attacking midfielders.
