Emmanuel Addai gave Qarabag FK hope, but his goal was not enough as they fell 4-3 to Sumqayit in a thrilling Azerbaijan Premier League clash.
The Ghanaian attacker struck in the 22nd minute, briefly helping Qarabag take control after Ramil Sheydayev had opened the scoring inside three minutes.
Qarabag raced into a 2-0 lead before half-time, but Sumqayit fought back hard after the break and turned the game into a tense end-to-end contest. Addai’s finish was one of the key moments of the first half, but Qarabag were eventually undone by three Sumqayit goals in the second period and stoppage time.
The result was a rare setback for Qarabag, who still showed their usual attacking threat and scored three away goals. However, their defensive lapses proved costly, especially in a game where the hosts refused to give in.
Addai’s contribution continues a productive season for the 2025/26 campaign. He has made 29 league appearances, scoring five goals and providing one assist in the Azerbaijan Premier League.
