Ghana international Kwasi Sibo is set to leave Spanish side Real Oviedo when his contract expires at the end of June, bringing an end to a remarkable chapter in his career following the club's rise to the Spanish top flight.
According to reports in Spain, the 27-year-old midfielder will not continue with Oviedo beyond June 30, 2026, despite playing a key role in the club's recent success.
The Spanish outfit are expected to lose the Ghanaian on a free transfer, with interest from Saudi Arabia growing and a lucrative contract reportedly on the table.
Sibo joined Oviedo from SD Amorebieta in 2024 after the Basque club suffered relegation to the Primera Federacion.
His arrival proved instrumental as Oviedo secured promotion and later competed in Spain's top division, while the midfielder also achieved a major personal milestone by earning his maiden call-up to the Black Stars.
The former Cheetah FC midfielder has established himself as an important figure for Ghana since making his international debut in 2025.
His recent performances for the Black Stars have strengthened his case to be a regular starter at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Ghana will be aiming to make a significant impact on the global stage.
While Oviedo will not receive a transfer fee for Sibo's departure, the Spanish club are expected to benefit financially from FIFA's Club Benefits Programme should the midfielder feature for Ghana at the World Cup.
Spanish media reports indicate that the club will closely monitor his performances during the tournament, which could further enhance his reputation ahead of a potential move to the Saudi Pro League.
Sibo's rise over the past two years has been impressive. After helping Amorebieta and later Oviedo achieve promotion, he has developed into one of Ghana's most dependable midfield options.
His energy, tactical discipline and ability to control the tempo of matches have made him a trusted figure for both club and country.
With his future seemingly destined for Saudi Arabia, the upcoming World Cup could provide the perfect stage for Sibo to showcase his quality before embarking on the next chapter of his career.
