Young Ghanaian winger Andrew Appiah made his debut for Latvian top-flight side FK Auda on Thursday in a goalless draw against Grobina in the Virsliga.
The left winger was introduced in the 58th minute, replacing Edvin Bongemba, as FK Auda searched for a breakthrough in a difficult away fixture.
Despite creating more attacking impetus after his introduction, Appiah and his teammates were unable to find the winning goal as the contest ended 0-0.
The appearance marked an important milestone for the promising Ghanaian, who only arrived in Latvia a few weeks ago after completing his registration to feature in the Virsliga.
Appiah spent nearly four years developing his game at United FC in the United Arab Emirates before securing his move to Europe.
The youngster was originally discovered at the age of 14 by FK Auda while playing for Ashanti Region Division Two side PAC Academy, with the Latvian club closely monitoring his progress before bringing him to the club.
Although his debut ended in a draw, Appiah remained upbeat about the team's prospects for the remainder of the season.
The Ghanaian expressed gratitude for the opportunity to make his first-team debut and said he was pleased to contribute as the team pushed for all three points.
Appiah will now be hoping to build on his first appearance and establish himself in the FK Auda first team as the Latvian Virsliga campaign continues.
