Ghana captain Jordan Ayew has called on the Black Stars to learn from their mistakes after qualifying for the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The four-time African champions progressed to the Round of 32 despite ending their Group L campaign with a 2-1 defeat by Croatia.
The result saw Ghana finish third in the group, setting up a first-ever competitive meeting with Colombia on Saturday.
Ayew insisted the defeat had not affected the squad's confidence but acknowledged there were lessons to take from the performance.
"It’s a World Cup game, and you want to win all your matches and keep the positivity. The result has not affected the mood, and we will learn from our mistakes," Ayew said in an interview with Flashscore.com.
The 34-year-old admitted Ghana struggled to keep possession against Croatia and paid the price for costly errors.
"We stay positive. On to the next game. It was a weird game today. We were a bit sloppy in possession, and they capitalised on our mistake. The most important thing is for us to focus on the next game because it’s either you stay or you go home," the former Leicester City forward added.
Ghana face Colombia in the Round of 32 on Saturday, with kick-off scheduled for 01:30 GMT.
The tie will be the first competitive meeting between the two countries and Ghana's first World Cup knockout match since their quarter-final defeat by Uruguay at the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
