Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz says Ghana must deliver a near-flawless performance if they are to overcome Colombia in Friday's FIFA World Cup Round of 32 clash, insisting there is no room for mistakes in knockout football.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference at Kansas City Stadium, the Portuguese tactician, who coached Colombia from 2019 to 2020, described the encounter as one that offers everything to the winner and nothing to the loser.
"It is an important game for both teams," Queiroz said. "It will be great to see two fantastic teams with different styles committed to winning the game and entertaining the fans."
The former Real Madrid coach acknowledged Colombia's quality but believes Ghana have the tools to progress.
"I know Colombia very well, but it is our obligation to study today's Colombia, not yesterday's Colombia. We know their qualities, but we also have players with a lot of quality and determination."
Queiroz stressed that the Black Stars must remain focused throughout the contest.
"There are no perfect teams. Colombia are not perfect, and we are not perfect. But tomorrow there is no room for mistakes. We have to do everything right for 90 minutes, or 120 minutes if necessary."
Despite the magnitude of the occasion, the 73-year-old said pressure should be embraced rather than feared.
"The pressure of a game like this is not a problem, it is a privilege. It is a privilege to be here playing against great players on the biggest stage in football."
Queiroz urged his players to enjoy the occasion while remaining committed to Ghana's objective of reaching the Round of 16.
"We have to enjoy the game and do everything that is in our hearts and souls so the Black Stars shine tomorrow and achieve the result our fans expect."
