Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren has announced a 27-player provisional squad as Ghana steps up preparations for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The squad combines experienced internationals with emerging talents as the Swedish trainer begins the final phase of preparations for the continental tournament.
Captain Portia Boakye headlines the squad alongside established names including Grace Asantewaa, Alice Kusi, Evelyn Badu, Jennifer Cudjoe, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah, Princess Marfo, Stella Nyamekye and Princella Adubea.
Bjorkegren has also retained a number of standout performers from the Malta Guinness Women's Premier League, with Cynthia Konlan Fiindib of FC Samartex Ladies, Osman Huzeima of Jonina Ladies and Ajegipina Zakaria of Ampem Darkoa Ladies earning places in the provisional squad.
The Black Queens are expected to begin camping in the coming days as preparations intensify ahead of the tournament in Morocco.
Ghana has been drawn in Group D and will open its campaign against Cape Verde on July 29 before taking on Cameroon on August 2. The Black Queens will conclude the group stage against Mali on August 6.
All three group matches will be played at the Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca as Ghana aims to secure a place in the knockout stages and challenge for continental honours.
The Women's Africa Cup of Nations also offers teams the opportunity to strengthen their bid for qualification to the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, adding further significance to Ghana's campaign in Morocco.
