Former Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has paid a courtesy visit to the Ghana Under-17 girls' camp to interact with the players and offer words of encouragement ahead of their crucial WAFCON qualifier against Senegal.
The 36-year-old, who captained the Black Stars at the 2026 World Cup in the United States, took time out to meet with the young Maidens as they prepare for Saturday's decisive return leg at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Ayew, who has featured in three World Cups and multiple Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, shared his experience with the young players and urged them to remain focused on the task at hand.
He emphasised the importance of representing Ghana on the continental stage and encouraged the Maidens to give their all in pursuit of qualification for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
The Black Maidens head into Saturday's encounter with a 1-1 draw from the first leg in Senegal. A win at the Accra Sports Stadium will secure their place at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
Head coach Joe Nana Adarkwa has already expressed confidence in his side, stating that every player understands what is at stake.
Ayew, who made his senior debut for Ghana in 2007, is one of the country's most decorated footballers. He has earned over 110 caps and captained the Black Stars at three World Cups.
His visit to the Maidens' camp is a timely boost for the young squad as they look to make history and secure Ghana's place at the global tournament.
