Kick Nation Scouting has intensified its search for Ghana's next generation of football stars through its partnership with Brooke House College in the United Kingdom, with the latest talent identification exercise taking place in Tamale.
The initiative, which began in October last year, aims to provide promising young Ghanaian footballers with opportunities to showcase their abilities on the international stage and potentially secure pathways into European football.
Speaking during the scouting exercise, Kick Nation CEO Wunnam Haruna revealed that the project has already produced encouraging results, with four players successfully sent to Brooke House College since the partnership was launched.
"We started this project in October last year and since then we have been able to take four players to our partners in the UK - Brooke House College.
"It has been good so far. We have been to Kumasi in March this year, Cape Coast a month ago, Gomoa and now in Tamale," Haruna said.
According to him, the nationwide scouting programme is focused on identifying the country's finest young talents between the ages of 16 and 17, with selected players eventually forming a representative squad for an elite youth tournament in England.
"We are getting the best and top talented footballers between the ages of 16 and 17 years from these locations. We will build a super team of 17 players and a goalkeeper to represent Kick Nation and Steadfast Academy in a tournament in the UK called the Brooke House Tournament, where there will be about 20 to 30 football scouts and directors to select the next generation of best talents," he explained.
Haruna also outlined the profile of players the scouting team is targeting, stressing that technical quality alone is not enough.
"With regards to the age, we are looking for 16, 17 and those who have just turned 18. Essentially, we are looking for players who embody the Ghana cliche of a footballer - tall, strong and with good technical ability. Most importantly, they must have good character and attitude," he added.
The selection process involves inviting between eight and ten football academies within the eligible age categories to compete in a mini tournament, allowing scouts to closely assess the players.
"We invite about eight to ten academies falling within the age categories. They engage in an all-play-all tournament, then our scouts will do the selection," Haruna noted.
The latest scouting exercise forms part of Kick Nation's broader mission to create opportunities for talented young footballers across Ghana by connecting them with international education and football development programmes.
With several successful scouting events already held across Kumasi, Cape Coast, Gomoa and Tamale, the organisers remain optimistic that more gifted Ghanaian youngsters will earn opportunities to compete in the Brooke House Tournament and catch the attention of scouts and sporting directors from clubs around the world.
