Former Ghana Football Association chairman Samuel Brew-Butler has issued a plea for Ghana football chiefs to hand Carlos Queiroz a substantive contract extension.
He warned that discarding the veteran coach after his short-term World Cup deal expires this month would represent a catastrophic strategic blunder.
The former GFA boss's intervention comes as the Portuguese tactician's four-month agreement reaches its conclusion, leaving his future hanging precariously in the balance following Ghana's campaign in North America.
Queiroz, who arrived in April with a glittering resume spanning Iran, Portugal, and Manchester United, inherited a squad in complete disarray with minimal preparation time before football's grandest spectacle.
Despite these impossible circumstances, the 73-year-old instilled noticeable defensive organisation and tactical discipline into a previously rudderless outfit. Brew-Butler, who steered Ghanaian football from 1993 to 1997, insists these green shoots deserve nurturing rather than summary dismissal.
"Although Carlos Queiroz did not have enough time to prepare the team, we still witnessed signs of improvement," Brew-Butler told Asempa FM. "I firmly believe he deserves the opportunity to continue this rebuilding project."
