Chairman of the Division One League Super Cup Committee, Rabeh El-Eter, believes the 2026 X1 Division One League (DOL) Super Cup will provide a vital platform for young footballers to showcase their talent ahead of the new season.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, which will be held at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium from August 10 to 18, Rabeh said the competition has grown beyond a pre-season event and now plays an important role in player development.
According to him, clubs will use the tournament to assess emerging talents, integrate new signings and prepare their squads for the 2026/27 Division One League campaign.
"It's an opportunity for clubs to use their young talents ahead of the league. I believe in youth football talent development, and this stage is set to serve this purpose," he said.
Rabeh noted that previous editions of the competition have helped several young players establish themselves at club level and attract wider recognition within Ghanaian football.
"The DOL Super Cup offers a unique platform for hard-working young players to shine and stake a claim for permanent positions for the new season," he added.
This year's tournament will feature Debibi United, Tamale City, FC AshantiGold, Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs, Port City FC, Semper Fi FC, Attram De Visser SC and Nsuopon Fidelity FC.
Rabeh also expressed confidence that the competition would once again prepare clubs for a successful league campaign.
"Over the years, clubs that have performed well during the DOL Super Cup have continued to excel during the league, and we hope this year will not be different," he said.
The tournament will be played under the sponsorship of X1 Energy Drink and is expected to showcase some of the brightest young talents in Ghana's second-tier football.
