Ghanaian defender Rockson Yeboah remains upbeat despite criticism at IFK Göteborg

Ghanaian defender Rockson Yeboah says he remains confident in his performances despite facing criticism during his time at Swedish side IFK Goteborg.

The 21-year-old centre-back joined the Allsvenskan club in the summer of 2024 and has established himself as a regular in the team this season. Yeboah has made 13 league appearances, starting 12 matches, and contributed two goals and one assist.

Despite his increased role, the Ghanaian has come under scrutiny in recent months, with criticism also coming from members of the club's technical staff. However, Yeboah insists he is pleased with his progress.

"I am in very good shape. I train every day and stay in good shape," Yeboah told Fotbollskanalen ahead of IFK Gothenburg's UEFA Conference League qualifying match against Estonian side FCI Levadia.

IFK Gothenburg have struggled defensively this season and have conceded more goals than any other team in the Swedish top flight. Yeboah, however, believes the club's difficulties should not be placed on individual players.

"It depends on the team. We are not in a good situation. We have not been a good team since the series started. It is about the team. But we train hard every day to get better. We have to give everything," he said.

The former Ghana youth international also rejected suggestions that the pressure on him has increased this season.

"No, no. I don't think so. You might see it that way, but I don't think so. It's about the whole team. If we win a match, it's not just about me, and if we lose, it's not just about me either."

Yeboah will be hoping to help IFK Goteborg improve their domestic form while playing a key role in the club's European campaign.
