Ghana Black Queens midfielder Evelyn Badu is backing the team to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup at the end of the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The Black Queens are among 16 national teams competing at this year’s WAFCON. The tournament’s four semi-finalists will qualify automatically for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
Speaking in a pre-match interview ahead of Ghana’s clash against Cameroon on Sunday, August 2, Evelyn Badu stressed that this is the Queens’ time to qualify for the World Cup.
“It’s always a pleasure to play for the national team, especially the senior women’s national team. I had my chance with the U-20s, and now I’m with the senior team at the World Cup. We’re just embracing the moment and taking the opportunities, because we know this is our time to get to the World Cup,” Badu said as quoted on ghanafa.org.
Sunday’s Group D showdown between Ghana and Cameroon is scheduled to kick off at 17:00GMT at the Moulay Rachid Stadium.
