Kedah FA strengthen midfield with Ghanaian Anthony Arthur on free transfer

Ghanaian midfielder Anthony Arthur has joined Kedah FA from Kelantan City on a free transfer, completing a move between two clubs in Malaysia’s A1 Semi-Pro League.

Arthur, 23, adds a left-footed central midfield option to Kedah’s squad after spending the 2025-26 campaign with Kelantan City. The move was completed on 3 August 2026, with the player switching clubs ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Born in Takoradi, Ghana, Arthur has built his recent career in Malaysia. He previously joined Kelantan WTS FC in December 2025 before moving to Kelantan City, where he established himself in the A1 Semi-Pro League.

He made 15 appearances in the competition during the season and scored twice, playing a total of 1,212 minutes. His goals came at an average of one every 606 minutes.

Arthur’s arrival gives Kedah a midfielder with experience of the division and a record of regular involvement in league matches. His preferred position is in central midfield, while his left foot provides a different balance to the club’s midfield options.

The transfer also marks his latest move within Malaysian football after a short spell at Kelantan WTS FC and his subsequent period with Kelantan City. Both his former club and Kedah FA competed in the same A1 Semi-Pro League during the relevant campaign.

Kedah have secured the player without a transfer fee, and Arthur’s move does not include a reported contract end date. He will now continue his career with the northern Malaysian club as part of its squad for the 2026-27 season.

Arthur completed his free transfer from Kelantan City to Kedah FA on 3 August 2026.
