Asante Kotoko have completed the permanent signing of 22-year-old Moroccan goalkeeper Abdel Wadie Mourad, GHANAsoccernet.com understands.
The shot-stopper has already arrived in Ghana and put pen to paper on a deal with the Porcupine Warriors. Contrary to reports suggesting he was on trial, Mourad has signed a permanent contract with the club and joins from Albanian side Basania FC.
The 1.93-metre goalkeeper brings top-flight experience to Kotoko, having previously featured for Moroccan club Chabab Mohammedia in the Botola Pro League. He made 13 appearances and played 1,170 minutes during the 2024/25 season, establishing himself as a regular option for the club.
Mourad is valued at approximately €130,000 and is represented by Mir Sport. His arrival adds further depth to Kotoko's goalkeeping department, which has undergone significant changes this transfer window.
The Porcupine Warriors have already secured the return of former goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim, while Mohammed Camara has departed for Ethiopian side Mechal. Mourad's arrival is expected to create strong competition for places as the club prepares for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
If officially confirmed, Mourad would become one of the few Moroccan players to feature in the Ghana Premier League. His move represents a significant step in the young goalkeeper's career as he looks to make his mark in West African football.
The deal is part of Kotoko's ongoing squad rebuild under head coach Eric Tinkler, with the club expected to remain active in the transfer market. An official announcement is expected soon.
