In a move to bring its services closer to contributors and Pensioners, the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) have launched a virtual branch.
The virtual branch, launched on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 fulfils the state pension regulator’s quest to improve its digital niche and cut operating costs for the Trust and customers while ensuring a 24-hour service.
Contributors and Pensioners need not physically visit the SSNIT office, as the new platform enables users to update records, complete transactions, and seek support virtually.
The platform is available on the Google Play Store and Apple stores, where it can be downloaded. Follow the user-friendly prompts to access all SSNIT services.
The Director General of the Trust, Kwesi Afreh Biney, told journalists at the launch that the initiative responds to changes in work patterns.
He said that: “at the heart of this initiative is accessibility and convenience,” adding that the virtual branch would ensure contributors can reach the Trust at their comfort zones without joining queues.
SSNIT staff, according to the DG, will be available through multiple digital channels on a 24-hour basis, allowing users to resolve issues that previously required in-person visits.
Mr. Kwesi Biney said the virtual branch was built to serve a broad range of users, from workers in formal employment to those in less structured arrangements who may not be able to visit offices during working hours.
“The goal is simple: to make our services accessible and convenient and ensure that 24/7 we are here to serve you.
“The thinking is simple: behind the system is a passion to deliver on our promises. Behind the system is a true love and genuine care for the people that we serve,” the DG of SSNIT said in his remark.

He added that the virtual branch would not replace the face-to-face operation, stressing that the Trust believes that there should never be a time that it is not accessible to the people it serves.
Together with the DG, the Deputy Minister for Communications and journalists toured the well-structured office space designated as the virtual branch.
Fitted with ultra-modern equipment, the backend staff, neatly dressed were glued to their computers, ready to serve their virtual customers.
REALITY
The Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Mohammed Adams Sukparu, stated that the SSNIT Virtual Branch was a strategic step that responds to today’s reality and commended the Trust for designing solutions for a new generation of contributors.
He indicated that the virtual platform makes it easier for workers in various organisations to engage with the scheme and strengthen its relevance and preparedness for the future.
He added that the innovation also brings government workers, freelancers, artisans, small business owners, digital creators and people often outside traditional employment closer to the pension system, offering them greater convenience and confidence.
“Congratulations to the leadership and staff of SSNIT for embracing innovation and demonstrating that public service can be modern, responsive and forward-looking.
“To our partners in labour, industry and the media, I urge you to champion this initiative and encourage workers, especially those in the formal and informal sectors, to fuel their future by contributing to the schemes as soon as they start earning,” he asserted.
