Dr. Bryan Acheampong’s tour of the northern parts of Ghana is increasingly emerging as a significant moment in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential race, as a growing wave of high-profile endorsements underscores the expanding reach of his campaign.
Most notable among them is the public endorsement by the family of S.D. Dombo, a revered figure in the party’s history. Within the NPP, the Dombo name represents more than political lineage; it symbolises inclusion, grassroots mobilisation and national unity.
Their decision to back Dr. Acheampong has sent a strong political signal across the northern regions and beyond, reshaping conversations around leadership, loyalty and the party’s future direction.

Across the Upper West, Upper East and North East regions, Dr. Bryan Acheampong has addressed packed meetings and received warm receptions, alongside firm expressions of support from constituency executives, traditional elders, youth leaders and other opinion formers.
The message from these engagements has been consistent: party members are calling for discipline, fairness and leadership capable of restoring confidence and leading the NPP to electoral victory.
Several local party leaders have openly declared their support. Wa East Chairman, Sumaila Kankuronye, said he has known Dr. Acheampong for many years and witnessed his contributions to the party, adding that he believes he is best positioned to win power for the NPP. Wa West Chairman, Abdulai Seidu, also endorsed the candidate, stating that Dr. Bryan Acheampong has the experience and commitment needed to lead the party, and urging delegates to support him as a unifying figure ahead of the polls.
Party insiders say the northern tour has begun to challenge long-standing assumptions about voting blocs and regional loyalties within the party.
According to them, delegates are increasingly prioritising credibility, organisation and electability qualities they say are reflected in Dr. Bryan Acheampong’s structured and data-driven campaign.
The endorsement by the Dombo family, combined with strong backing from northern constituency executives, has reinforced Dr. Acheampong’s image as a unifier capable of bridging regions, traditions and generations within the party.
As his engagements in the north continue to gather momentum, it is becoming increasingly clear that his campaign is moving beyond participation and into consolidation.
