The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has reaffirmed his commitment to rewarding police officers who demonstrate bravery and professionalism in their line of duty.

To him, there is dignity in hard work and that his outfit would ensure that all personnel who deserve recognition are accorded same.
Speaking to The Chronicle in Kumasi, following a series of major crime-fighting breakthroughs, the IGP, known as the “Turnaround Tiger”, stressed that hard work deserves recognition.

He noted that officers from the Ashanti, Ahafo and Tema areas who have distinguished themselves would be promoted to their next ranks without hesitation.
On Monday, February 23, 2026 at about 7:00 p.m., the IGP hosted a special dinner for selected officers at the Lancaster Hotel in Kumasi.
The rationale behind it was to thank them for their hard work and also to encourage them to focus more attention on the criminals terrorising the law abiding citizens of the country.

The following day (yesterday), the forecourt of the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters was turned into a celebratory ground, as deserving officers were honoured for their dedication and sacrifices.
One of the most significant breakthroughs that resulted in the celebration came from Ashanti Region, where the officers after a well-coordinated investigation arrested four suspects, including three members of a gang responsible for a robbery incident at Owhim Tigo Junction, where one person was shot and killed.
The victim happens to be the father in law of Mr Sammy Gyamfi, Chief Executive officer of the Ghana Gold Board.

The leader of the gang, Eric Antwi Duku, who specialises in snatching pickup and Land Cruiser vehicles, particularly black and ash-colour, which they sell to contacts at Paga, was shot dead during the operation.
Police sources say Eric Antwi Duku was known for extravagant foreign trips funded by proceeds of crime.
The police investigation revealed that the syndicate had links to similar robberies at Tarkwa, Kumasi and other parts of the Ashanti region.
The modus operandi involved identifying and monitoring target victims, following them until they get the opportunity to strike and resorting to opening fire if the victims resisted.
Information available to The Chronicle from Ahafo Region, also indicates that on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at about 3:00 p.m. a police taskforce on patrol along the Ayomso–Goaso road intercepted two suspects Johnson Mawutor, 26, and Kelvin Ofori, 22, who were riding an unregistered motorbike toward Ayomso near Goaso.
Upon spotting the police, the suspects reportedly switched off the motorcycle’s headlight and attempted to flee.
Officers pursued and arrested them. A search revealed an AK-47 assault rifle (No. 68098152) loaded with 29 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag.
Further searches at Johnson Mawutor’s residence at Abro Danho, a suburb of Goaso, uncovered additional weapons and items, including pistols, assorted ammunition, communication devices, a drone and other offensive implements.
Preliminary investigations indicate that earlier that day, Mawutor had allegedly asked his cousin, Mensah Dogba, 20, to accompany him to Techiman in the Bono East Region to collect a parcel from a contact, identified as Mohammed Adinan Ussif, who is currently at large.
The suspects were later intercepted the same night at about 11:00 p.m.
In a separate operation about two weeks ago in Tema, police intercepted a truck carrying over 3,000 compressed slabs of substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
During interrogation, two individuals, including a National Security operative reportedly attempted to bribe officers with GH¢150,000.
The suspects were arrested and the cash was retained as evidence.
The IGP commended the officers involved in the various operations and assured them of the Service’s unwavering support, emphasising that discipline, integrity and courage remain the hallmarks of the Ghana Police Service.
He also expressed gratitude to President John Mahama for equipping the police with necessary logistics, enabling them to respond effectively to such operations.
He also called on the public to support police operations by sharing credible information and reporting suspicious persons and activities.
The IGP cautioned criminals to be wary that the police will leave no stones unturned to come after them and deal with them.
“We will pursue them, arrest them, and bring them to justice. That is a promise,” the IGP assured.
