Kingmakers of Asante Agona have successfully installed a new Agonahene (Omanhene of Asante Agona), in the person of Odehyie Benjamin Kwaku Boakye, alias Nana Boakye.
The new chief answers to the stool name Obiri Komfo Anokye Boakye I.
Mr. Boakye has over a decade experience as a Radio Broadcaster, IT Practitioner, Businessman and Political Strategist.

He succeeds the late Omanhene, Nana Frimpong Anokye Ababio (known in private life as Dr. Daniel Kwasi Berkoh), who passed away in 2022.
The new Agona Chief has since last Thursday sworn the oath of allegiance to Chiefs, the Stool and his people, to occupy the Okomfo Anokye Amoampon stool.
The installation process would, however, be completed with the swearing of an oath of allegiance to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for full legitimisation.
In attendance at the installation were the Agonahemaa Nana Acheampomaa Ntansa Yiadom II, Amoakohene Nana Adu Mensah Asare II, Mamponghemaa Nana Agyakoma Difie II and other traditional rulers.
Nana Acheampomaa Ntansa Yiadom II on May 18, 2026 nominated 57-year-old Benjamin Kwaku Boakye as the next Agonahene.
Born on October 9, 1968 Benjamin Kwaku Boakye (now Obiri Komfo Anokye Boakye I), son of the elder sister of Agonahemaa’s mother, is married with two daughters and two sons.
Nana Boakye is a known philanthropist who had aided numerous young men and women, both within and outside Agona and has youth development at heart and works tirelessly to ensure the youth empowerment.
