The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has given traders operating around the Airport Roundabout until September 30, 2026, to vacate their existing structures as part of a broader initiative to beautify and reorganise the Kumasi metropolis.
The exercise forms part of the Assembly’s ongoing efforts to improve the appearance, orderliness and overall urban environment of Kumasi and thus ensure a cleaner, safer and more orderly Kumasi.
The Mayor of Kumasi, Richard Ofori-Boadi Agyemang, has engaged the traders at the Airport Roundabout where he communicated the Assembly’s directive and presented eviction notices to affected traders.
However, traders who wish to continue operating in the area have the option to establish new stores that have been approved by the KMA and meet the Assembly’s required standards.
As part of the same initiative, the Mayor has also directed that damaged and deteriorating billboards be removed from the metropolis.
The directive is aimed at addressing neglected advertising structures and improving the visual outlook of major roads and public spaces. The Assembly is expected to continue engaging affected stakeholders as it implements the measures.
