The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged the newly elected national executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to put Ghana’s national interest ahead of partisan considerations.
In a congratulatory message following the NPP’s national executive elections held in Kumasi over the weekend, the NDC said the new leadership should work with other political actors to strengthen Ghana’s democratic gains.
The NDC said it remained committed to peaceful political engagement and democratic values, stressing that political parties had a collective responsibility to protect and deepen the country’s democratic development.
“It is the fervent hope of the NDC that under the tenure of this new crop of executives, there will be mutual effort to ensure that the interest of Ghana always surpasses the narrow interest of the two respective parties,” the statement, signed by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, said.
The NDC added that such cooperation would help advance the broader objective of making Ghana “great and strong.”
The message follows the NPP’s election of a new national leadership at its National Delegates Conference in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
Former NPP General Secretary John Boadu was elected National Chairman, while Justin Frimpong Kodua retained the position of General Secretary. Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover was elected National Organiser, with Alfred Kojo Thompson becoming National Treasurer.
Kojo Fosu Boadu, Henry Nana Boakye and Nana Akomea were elected First, Second and Third Vice Chairpersons respectively.
The NDC’s message comes as the new NPP leadership begins a four-year mandate, with the party expected to reorganise its structures and prepare for the 2028 general election.
The NDC said it expected the new executives to contribute to peaceful political engagement and the strengthening of Ghana’s democratic institutions.
It also congratulated the NPP on what it described as the successful election of its new national executives.
