The Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu, Mr Atta Issah, on Monday handed over a newly constructed two-unit kindergarten block with ancillary facilities to the Kpalsi A.E.M Zion School in the Sagnarigu Municipality of the Northern Region.
The project, funded from the MP’s share of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), is aimed at improving teaching and learning in the farming community.
At a brief ceremony attended by school authorities and chiefs of the Kpalsi community, Mr Issah said the project underscored the government’s commitment to education and community development in the constituency.
He noted that the new facility would provide pupils with a solid foundation for learning.
According to him, the intervention reflected the government’s resolve to invest in the future of communities across the country.
“Together, we are building progress and hope for generations to come in our respective communities in the country,” he added.
Mr Issah explained that the project fulfilled a promise he made to the people of Kpalsi after they appealed for a new classroom block.
He mentioned that the facility would also create additional space to accommodate increasing enrolment in the school.
The MP further assured the community of his commitment to continue engaging government institutions and development partners to secure more educational infrastructure for the constituency.
He commended the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, the Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly, and the Works Department for their roles in ensuring the timely completion of the project.
The Sagnarigu Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Abdulai Imoro Gong, reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting educational institutions with infrastructure, teaching staff, and learning materials.
He said the new block would help lay a strong academic foundation for the pupils.
Mr Gong appealed to the head teacher and staff to maintain the facility properly, saying that, “It is important that we maintain it well, not only for the present generation but also for future generations.”
He also urged residents to support the municipality in order to enable the government to fully deliver on its development agenda.
The Deputy Director of Finance and Administration at the Sagnarigu Municipal Office of the Ghana Education Service, Mr Ouedraogu Issac, commended the MP and the assembly for the initiative.
He said the facility would help address the long-standing problem of overcrowding in the school.
Mr Issac assured the MP that the facility would be well maintained.
