The Jared Dalton Agency in collaboration with ALPHASEN Consult has presented laptops and certificates to 206 final-year students of Jim Bourton Memorial Agriculture Senior High School in the Afadzato South District of the Volta Region.
The presentation followed the successful completion of a two-week intensive training programme in digital marketing.
The training equipped the students with modern technological skills, enabling them to use smartphones and laptops to engage in productive business activities instead of waiting for government employment after school.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of the two organisations, Mr Jared Dalton, expressed satisfaction with the enthusiasm shown by the trainees.
He said he was confident they would apply the knowledge acquired to transform their communities.
Mr Dalton explained that the skills gained would help transition the students into the world of business, where self-employment remains a viable option for competing in today’s technology-driven environment.
He emphasised that a successful business must address customer needs while maintaining strong relationships built on consistency, trust and mutual respect.
Mr Dalton further stated that technological advancement remained key for developing countries in addressing challenges such as youth unemployment.
He, therefore, urged the beneficiaries to be innovative in meeting customer needs.
He also advised the students to treat laptops and smartphones as essential working tools that could help them achieve economic independence, stressing the need to take proper care of the devices to prolong their lifespan.
According to him, the digital marketing space required strong communication skills, patience and the ability to build sustainable businesses capable of generating income and creating employment opportunities for others.
The National Programme Coordinator of the initiative, Mr Emmanuel Roy Seneadza, said the practical nature of the training had exposed participants to both the benefits and risks associated with technology.
He noted that the programme had helped shift students from passive use of social media to becoming active digital entrepreneurs.
Mr Seneadza explained that although many young people use social media for unproductive activities, the training offered a more meaningful alternative.
He added that the students were now equipped to leverage social media platforms to establish marketing agencies, provide professional services to local businesses and promote their own ventures.
The Science and Technology Coordinator for Education in the Afadzato South District, Mr Anthony Asoe, expressed appreciation to the organisers and suggested that the initiative be extended to primary schools to help pupils understand both the benefits and risks of technology at an early age.
The Chaplain of the school, Reverend Bright Tulasi, urged the students to put the skills acquired to good use and serve as good ambassadors of the school.
He encouraged them to become agents of change in their communities.
