The men’s 4 by 100m relay team made up of Sean Safo-Antwi, Joseph Paul Amoah, Martin Owusu-Antwi and Benjamin Azamati won gold at the 2019 All Africa Games in Rabat, Morocco.
But they will be in for a tough test on Friday, October 4 at the Khalifa International Stadium as they race on the tracks against consistent medal hopefuls like Jamaica, USA and Great Britain.
Ghana’s men’s team will race in the second semi-finals.
They have been confirmed in Lane 7.
Brazil, Turkey, Italy, USA, Great Britain and Jamaica will be lined up in that order on the tracks.
Qatar, the slowest team in the pack, will race in Lane 8.
The women have also been drawn in a tough semi-final and would have to contend with world best teams like Jamaica and Great Britain to make it to the finals.
They also need to sharpen the baton change, which cost them a medal’s place at the All Africa Games last month.
They will be in lane 4.
They are only faster than Italy, who will be in lane 6, in the second semi-final.
Germany, Nigeria and Great Britain are in lanes 1, 2 and 3 respectively with China, Jamaica and Brazil in lanes 5, 7 and 8 respectively.
The three fastest teams make it automatically to the finals.
