Ghana’s U-20 national team coach Ben Fokuo has stated that his ladies are getting up to speed ahead of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica and hopes to change the narrative.
Ben Fokuo’s ladies eased past Ethiopia 5-1 on aggregate in the last qualifying round after eliminating Zambia, Uganda and Mauritania to book their 6th World Cup appearance.
In the previous five appearances, Ghana have failed to progress from the group stages and will be hoping to make amends this time in Costa Rica.
The team has been at the Ghanaman Soccer of Excellence preparing for the tournament.
Fokuo has almost a full house including Evelyn Badu, Sharon Esinam Sampson and Susan Owusu all reporting from their respective club abroad and is impressed with progress made so far.
“They’re picking up gradually as they get closer to the tournament. Everybody is expecting the tournament to be a different one,” Ben Fokuo stated in an interview with 3Sports.
The Princesses will have to overcome a tough challenge from defending champions Japan, the Netherlands and the USA in group D.
