Real Madrid’s La Liga match against Valencia, originally set for Saturday, has been postponed following the tragic flash floods that hit Spain.
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced the decision, which affects all matches in the Valencia region, where heavy rains have left at least 95 people dead and many more missing.
Among the affected fixtures, Villarreal’s La Liga game against Rayo Vallecano and three Segunda Division matches—Castellon v RC Ferrol, CD Eldense v SD Huesca, and Malaga’s visit to Levante—have also been called off. In Liga F, the women’s top flight, Valencia’s game with Deportivo La Coruna and Real Madrid’s match against Levante are similarly postponed.
The RFEF received requests from La Liga, Liga F, and the affected clubs to delay these matches. Several Copa del Rey games, including Valencia’s match with Parla Escuela, had already been rescheduled.
In honor of those impacted, a minute of silence will be held during this weekend’s games, expressing Spanish football’s solidarity with the victims and their families.
