Patrick Yaw Boamah, the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, has declared his intention to challenge the results of the parliamentary elections in court.
Boamah insists he is the rightful winner of the seat and will pursue all legal avenues to reverse what he describes as a “fraudulent declaration.”
In a statement on his official X handle, Boamah expressed his commitment to due process, saying, “I am a believer in due process, and I am taking the right steps to legally reverse this fraudulent declaration.”

Boamah accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of seizing the Okaikwei Central parliamentary seat through what he termed a “coup d’état.” He alleged irregularities in the declaration process, citing coercion of the Returning Officer.
Speaking in an interview with Channel One TV, Boamah elaborated on his claims: “Look at the way the Returning Officer was manhandled within the conference room of the Electoral Commission. They took over the room, coerced him, and forced a declaration, which was broadcast live on national television.”
The incumbent MP described the incident as unprecedented and unconstitutional, emphasizing that it undermines the integrity of Ghana’s electoral process. “What happened is very alien to any electoral process I’ve been a part of in this country,” he lamented.
