Dr. Joe Anokye, Director-General of the National Communications Authority (NCA), has proceeded on terminal leave effective January 7, 2025.
In a letter to key industry players, including CEOs of major telecommunications companies, Dr. Anokye cited the ongoing government transition as the reason for his departure.
“As you are also aware, the Government is transitioning, and with that, it is time for me to bow out as the Director General of the NCA,” Dr. Anokye stated in the letter as reported by Asaase Radio.
He expressed his gratitude for the collaboration and support received from industry stakeholders during his tenure and emphasized the need for continued cooperation with his two Deputy Directors-General during this transition period.
Dr. Anokye’s departure marks the end of his service as NCA Director-General since 2017.
He acknowledged the significant changes and challenges faced by the communications industry during his tenure and highlighted the collective efforts made to overcome them.
