
Kwame Kpekpena
The Ag. Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana Ltd. (ECG), Kwame Kpekpena, has promised to work with staff to transform the company into a sustainable and efficient power distributor in the country.
Outlining his strategic vision to staff of the Accra West region during a special staff durbar in his honour, Mr. Kpekpena acknowledged past inefficiencies, and pledged to work closely with the staff to significantly reduce losses, boost revenue, improve supply reliability and improve efficiency with the aid of technology.
This, he said, will require transparency, accountability and financial discipline.
Mr. Kpekpena announced that he has set up four specialised teams to monitor and evaluate the business of the Company. They are the Commercial, Financial, Network Operations and Technology teams.
The acting General Manager for the Accra West region, Emmanuel Ankrah, pledged the support of staff of the region to the MD’s strategic vision.
He noted that though some existing operational and logistical challenges hamper smooth service delivery to customers, staff are always prepared to go the extra mile to ensure that the company’s mission to provide quality, reliable and safe electricity services to support the economic growth and development of the country is realised.
During the staff durbar, the Accra West region was recognised as the 2nd best performing region in ECG.
The acting MD presented a plaque to the acting General Manager that read “this award is proudly presented by the Management of ECG to the Accra west region in recognition of its excellent performance in operational efficiency, customer service and sustainable growth, throughout the year 2024. Congratulations!”
The Accra West region of ECG has eight operational districts. These are Ablekuma, Achimota, Amasaman, Bortianor, Dansoman, Kaneshie, Korle-bu and Nsawam.
