Booaso-Agya ,(B/A), July 7, GNA - Mr John Asamani, the Environmental Health Officer for Techiman North District in the Brong-Ahafo Region has urged prospective landlords/ladies in the area to ensure availability of household latrines in their houses to curb open defecations.
He said owners of completed houses without such a facilities should make re-adjustments to provide such facilities to avoid diseases such as; cholera, especially in the rainy seasons.
Mr Asamani gave the advice in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Thursday at Booaso-Agya at the sidelines of a sensitisation programme on the need to keep proper sanitation and clean environment for selected participants from Booaso-Agya and Chemera, in the District.
The programme, organised by the Environmental Health Department of the District was to sensitise the participants to lead a campaign in the two communities to identify their sanitation challenges, particularly lack of household toilets in their homes and take steps to address them.
He appealed to stakeholders, particularly traditional rulers to support and promote good environmental health activities and programmes for sustainable development in their areas.
