Kumasi, Nov. 21, GNA – Heads of Basare settler communities residing in five regions in the country, have pledged to form a united front to spearhead the promotion of peace and unity among all Basare natives living in different parts of the country.
The tribal heads coming from Ashanti, Bono, Ahafo, Eastern and Greater Accra Regions, made the commitment at Aboabo in Kumasi in a meeting hosted by Alhaji Moro Bahama Gawu, the Basare chief of Kumasi.
The meeting, also attracted illustrious and prominent Basares in politics, public service and security, all across the country.
It formed the platform for brainstorming to find lasting solutions to some of the numerous chieftaincy disputes in Basare communities countrywide, especially, the one at Tatale and its environs in the Northern Region.
Alhaji Moro Gawu expressed grave concern about violent chieftaincy disputes rocking Basare communities and said, these were wreaking havoc on the citizens as it negatively impacted development in those areas.
Alhaji Moro Gawu said a delegation would be dispatched to the Paramount Chief of Tatale, Wobore Gariba Nkoso, to help find ways to end the misunderstandings and bring lasting peace to some of the disputes.
Wobore Nawoni Tichomla, Basare chief of Sunyani, who presided over the meeting, called for unity and understanding from all to ensure a successful resolution of all disputes in Basare communities.
