The attacker joins players such as Thomas Vermaelen and Jeison Murillo who have been kept out of Coach Ernesto Valvede’s side and are expected to watch the game from the stands.
Boateng’s snub has come as a little surprise as he has barely made it to the Catalonian side during their Champions League campaign.
The 32-year-old Ghana international travelled with the team to Manchester during their first leg quarter final game two weeks ago but did not make it to the final list of the manager.
Boateng who is on a six month loan deal with the Catalans has made only three appearances for Coach Valvede’s side without a goal.
