Forty-two-year-Old Godfred Asare from Kramo Krom was adjudged the Adansi South Best Farmer at the celebration of Farmers’ Day at Menang, over the weekend.
For his prize, he was presented with a tricycle, popularly known as ‘Aboboyaa’, and several other agricultural inputs.

Speaking to the media, the elated award winner called on the government to make agricultural inputs like fertilizer free of charge or sell them at reduced prices. Mr. Asare urged the youth to go into farming, saying they will not regret if they do so.
The Adansi South DCE, Oheneba Kobena Ando, congratulated all the award winners from the district and charged the youth to venture into agriculture, instead of using all their energy in galamsey activities.
The DCE said his office, in conjunction with the Agriculture Department, will give support to whoever will venture into agriculture in order for him or her to succeed.
The Adansi South District Director of Agriculture, Mr. Alfred David Mensah, on his part noted that the exhibits at the ceremony were testimony of the hard work of farmers and other value chain actors in the district, for which they deserve to be honoured.
He pointed out that the selection for winning an ward is not based on any political, social, economic, gender or other affiliations, but strictly by performance.
The Director announced that Yaw Savi, the past Adansi South District Best PLWD Farmer emerged as the Ashanti Regional Best PLWD Farmer this year.
