A six-month-old baby has tragically died in a fire that engulfed a family home in Nogsenia, a suburb of Navrongo in Ghana's Upper East Region.
The fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday, January 12, leaving the local community in shock and mourning.
According to eyewitness accounts reported by Citi Newsroom, the blaze spread rapidly, consuming the couple's room before neighbours could intervene. Despite their best efforts, the intensity of the flames made it impossible to save the infant.
The baby’s mother, who was inside the house at the time, reportedly collapsed from shock and smoke inhalation. She was rushed to the War Memorial Hospital in Navrongo, where she is currently receiving treatment.
In addition to the tragic loss of life, the fire destroyed the family’s belongings, including household items, clothing, and essential documents. The house was reduced to ashes, leaving the family homeless.
