‘Nana Addo is everything a leader should not be’ – NDC’s Beatrice Annan

The Deputy spokesperson of the John Mahama campaign, Beatrice Annan Esq has said that the only legacy of President Akufo-Addo is his statues being unveiled nationwide.

She said this in reaction to the unveiling of a statue of President Nana Akufo-Addo by himself and chiefs of Upper Dixcove near the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi-Takoradi.

The statue was unveiled on November 6 as part of President Akufo-Addo’s one-day “thank you” tour of the Western Region.

The inauguration of the statue in an uncompleted roundabout has drawn public attention and debate.

Beatrice Annan, in an interview on 3FM Sunrise on November 14, questioned the purpose of erecting the statue, suggesting it is the only legacy President Akufo-Addo will leave Ghanaians with.

“Nana Addo epitomises the word disappointment. He is everything a leader should not be. And Ghanaians will remember him for just his self-praising statues being built nationwide.” Beatrice Annan criticized.

She again urged that the Free Senior High School policy implemented by the government would have been a great legacy if it was properly structured.

“President Akufo-Addo had the chance to leave Free SHS behind as his legacy, but he messed it up.” The Deputy Spokesperson of the John Mahama campaign said.

Beatrice Annan urged the electorates not to allow themselves to be deceived again in voting for the NPP in the upcoming elections.

“Don’t let anyone blackmail you with the Free SHS, it does not solve the unemployment situation and economic crises that we face.” Beatrice Annan told Ghanaians.

The Akufo-Addo-led government implemented the Free SHS initiative in 2017 as one of its key promises made to Ghanaians before his victory in the 2016 election.

This has led to many citizens gaining admission to the second cycle. However, many citizens and stakeholders said it was rushed. Others are also of the view that the initiative has reduced the quality of education in the country.
