Members of the Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) team especially North Tongu Lawmaker Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Private legal Practitioner Martin Kpebu resist any temptation to discuss the information on suspected acts of corruption they receive from the public in the media, a UK-based analyst, Michael Danquah has said.
Mr Michael Danquah said that it is important for Mr Ablakwa and Martin Kpebu to realise that they find themselves in a different circumstance where they ought to be mindful of the media commentaries they run on on the issues especially when the person accused has not been given the opportunity to he heard.
His comments come at a time when the team ORAL on Friday, December 20announced that it had received the full dossier on the National Service ghost names scandal.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced this on his X page.
“We are extremely grateful to The Fourth Estate and the Media Foundation for West Africa for the presentation and their exceptional patriotism. Together, we shall reset Ghana and recover all loot,” he wrote on his X page.
Reacting to this situation, Mr Michael Danquah told journalists that “It is good that the ORAL team has started receiving the information but I pray that the members desist or resist any temptation to discuss the issues they receive in the media.
“The person accused will have to be given the opportunity to be heard on all the accusations and so if these matters are discussed in the media it means they will be tried in the public domain even before they appear before the court, that will be an unfair thing to do. So Mr Ablakwa and Kpby especially who are known for making media commentaries on these issues should know that they find themselves in a different situation now.
|”The principle of natural justice which says whoever has been accused should be given the opportunity to be shared should apply.”
