The Central Regional Minister-designate Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere says he is resolved to get the Komenda Sugar Factory running as quickly as possible.
He believes the sugar factory, when operationalised, will create jobs and help reduce unemployment in the Central region.
The Regional Minister-designate who spoke to OnuaOnline following his nomination by President Mahama finds it unacceptable that the factory has been abandoned even after a massive investment by government.
“The Komenda Sugar Factory, we have no option than to bring it with a military speed…in fact, with the speed of light. If you look at the amount of money that has gone into this factory and where it is now, I think it is in the heart of President Mahama to bring it back,” he said.
He has also assured to give attention to other abandoned projects in the region and ensured that they will be completed before initiating new ones.
His nomination has been greeted with excitement by residents of the Central region, especially Gomoa Potsin, where he hails from.
Eduamoah Ekow Okyere Panyin served as two-term Member of Parliament for the Gomoa East Constituency and is currently the Central Regional Vice Chairman of the NDC.
