The Public Relations Officer of Kantamanto Traders Association, Rev. Opoku Afreh, has lauded the support received from politicians and NGOs to rebuild their structures since the market got burnt.
He however lamented that the total amount donated so far is not enough to cater for their needs.
“We are grateful for the support so far, but we are still appealing to Ghanaians to come to our aid since we need capital to start all over again,” he said.
Speaking with 3news on January 24, the PRO stated that “though we have received GHC1million from President John Dramani Mahama, two hundred thousand cedis from former Vice President, fifty thousand from the Flagbearer for New Force Nana Kwame Bediako and some NGOs, but we are still in need.”
He added, “Let no one in this market say they’ve not received money from us the executives because that’s the money we’re using to fix the market, and we shall account for any single donation at the end of it all.”
“Kantamanto traders are over four thousand and we can’t share the donations to ourselves as some people are requesting, what matters right now is getting our shops back and that’s exactly what the executives are doing now,” he explained.
