Lee Reeves
Irish boxer Lee Reeves is in a critical but stable condition in hospital after being stretchered from the ring following his bout against Gary Cully in Dublin on Saturday.
The 31-year-old from Limerick was challenging Cully for the vacant BUI Celtic super-lightweight title at the 3Arena when he was knocked out in the 10th round. Medical personnel immediately attended to Reeves before transferring him to hospital.
A spokesperson for Queensberry Promotions confirmed on Sunday that Reeves remains under close medical care.
“Lee Reeves is still in hospital, in a critical but stable condition. We will know more in the coming days, and our thoughts and prayers remain with Lee and his family.”
Cully, who secured the title with the knockout victory, expressed concern for his opponent after the fight.
“I hope he’s okay,” Cully said. “He came in as a big underdog but showed he belongs at this level. Huge credit to him.”
Queensberry promoter Frank Warren also offered his support, saying everyone at the promotion is thinking of Reeves and remains in constant contact with his team while hoping for positive news.
The contest formed part of the undercard to the main event between Pierce O’Leary and Mark Chamberlain, which also ended with a 10th-round knockout victory for the visiting Chamberlain.
