Diana Hopeson Alleges Abuse In First Marriage

Gospel musician, Diana Hopeson, has opened up about the abuse and death threats she experienced during her first marriage.

Speaking in an interview with Kafui Dey on August 23, 2026, the veteran gospel artiste said her former husband repeatedly abused her during periods of crisis.

Diana said she initially kept forgiving him because she did not fully understand what was happening. However, the abuse continued and eventually affected her emotionally and physically.

“He hit me and I don’t wish anyone to go through this,” she recounted.

She explained that she later realised her former husband was dealing with an illness, but the situation remained difficult.

According to Diana, she sought help from her church and continued praying for strength, but eventually understood that she also needed support outside her faith.

The situation became more serious when her former husband allegedly threatened to get a gun and kill both of them.

“I got death threats too and that’s when I decided to run for my life,” she said.

Diana recalled several frightening incidents, including one in which he threatened to crash their car into a truck and another where he allegedly beat her with a belt, leaving her bleeding.

She said the experience eventually pushed her to leave the marriage and seek safety.
