Companies operating within Ghana’s port and logistics industry have come together for the 2026 edition of the LCB Corporate Games, a 12 to 14-week sporting competition aimed at promoting collaboration, healthy lifestyles and stronger professional relationships.
Now in its fifth year, the tournament has attracted 16 corporate institutions from across the sector. Matches are being staged across the Accra and Tema zones, with top teams from both zones set to meet in a grand finale to determine the overall champion.
Beyond competition, organisers say the annual event offers employees a platform to interact outside their usual business environment, build networks and foster camaraderie through recreation and physical activity.
Among the participants is the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), which has entered two teams this year – the Fire Department and the Mechanical Department.
GPHA has been a regular participant alongside other companies and institutions operating within Ghana’s ports, shipping, freight and logistics ecosystem.
The games are organised by LCB Worldwide Ghana Limited as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility drive and efforts to create platforms that unite industry stakeholders.
According to Philomena Ocloo, an official of LCB Worldwide Ghana, the initiative also creates awareness about the company’s operations.
“It is very necessary for us to give back to the community so as we create awareness of what we literally do. Because most of the times, people don’t know what disinfection is all about, so as we undertake this particular project every year, it is a way of letting the society that we happen to be around know that this is what we are into,” she said.
She explained that the annual project allows LCB to engage directly with the wider business community while combining CSR objectives with social interaction and wellbeing.
Organisers believe the competition also contributes to healthier workplaces and stronger business ties.
Felix Segbaya, another official of LCB Worldwide Ghana, said the games send a broader message about the company’s relationship with partners.
“It sends a signal to our business partners that we are not just about business. We’re looking to send a sense of good health and all that, friendliness amongst ourselves. So, in a way, it has brought us together and it has increased the way we do business,” he said.
Competition will continue with fixtures in Accra and Tema before the finale. The overall champion will receive GH?20,000, first runner-up GH?10,000 and second runner-up GH?5,000.
Organisers expect this year’s edition to further strengthen industry relationships while promoting fitness, teamwork and community within the port and logistics sector.
