NPP Bans Self-Appointed Communicators In Ashanti

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, has stated that “nobody can go and represent the NPP on radio and television shows in the Ashanti Region” without the prior approval of the party.

The directive is, among other things, intended to streamline the party’s communications wing in the region to ensure that the NPP communicates properly to win the 2028 polls.

The stern order, which takes immediate effect, has already been communicated to morning show hosts, political show hosts, producers and other stakeholders to take note.

Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah observed that the party had in the past suffered from self-appointed communicators.

According to him, there have been several instances whereby people who don’t have knowledge about a particular topic failed to defend the party on radio and television shows.

The Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, who is nicknamed as ‘COKA’, said the party is poised to wrest political power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration in two years’ time.

He pointed out that communication, notably on radio and television, remains key to the NPP’s chances of winning the 2028 elections, so the party has decided to strengthen that area.

“Dr. Keskine Owusu Poku, our officer in charge of communications in the region should at all times be aware of people who speak on behalf of the party on radio and TV.

“Radio and television hosts please get in touch with Director of Communications for approval of the person to speak on your network on behalf of NPP to ensure progress,” he said.

COKA said if the new directive is strictly adhered to by radio and television stations in the region, it would go a long way in ensuring that the party communicates with one voice.

“We want to work closely with the media in the Ashanti Region to ensure sanity on the airwaves, so always let only appointed people from the party appear on your shows,” he pleaded.

COKA, who was speaking during a press soirée at the Longford Event Center at Odeneho-Kwadaso in Kumasi on Saturday, said he is targeting victory for NPP in 2028.

He also condemned what he described as “politics of insults in the media,” saying, “Our culture doesn’t support insults. Please let’s come together and stop politics of insults.”

According to him, he has admonished NPP communicators in the region to do away with politics of insults, noting, “I have told them that wisdom is the key to win elections not insults.”
