Premier League interest in Ghana midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi is gathering pace, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United all stepping up their pursuit of the FC Nordsjaelland youngster.
According to a report by TeamTalk, representatives of the three clubs were present at the weekend to watch Yirenkyi in action as FC Nordsjaelland claimed a 2-1 win over Sonderjyske in the Danish Superliga.
The 20-year-old produced a standout display, scoring the opener and providing the assist for the winning goal after the winter break.
Yirenkyi is already being compared to compatriot Michael Essien for his strength, reading of the game and forward passing.
Interest extends beyond the traditional giants. Brighton & Hove Albion have tracked him since last year, while Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, Brentford and West Ham United are also monitoring his progress.
Nordsjaelland are under no pressure to sell, having rejected a bid of around £15 million in January and secured Yirenkyi on a long-term contract.
Any summer move is now expected to require an offer in excess of €25 million, as one of Europe’s most competitive transfer races begins to take shape.
