Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana is set for the Champions League round of 16 after Atalanta's dramatic comeback victory over Borussia Dortmund, with either Arsenal or Bayern Munich awaiting in the next phase.
The 23-year-old came off the bench in the second leg as Atalanta overturned a 2-0 first-leg deficit with a stunning 4-1 win in Bergamo, progressing 4-3 on aggregate. Sulemana replaced Nicola Zalewski for the final 14 minutes of the pulsating encounter.
The victory keeps Atalanta alive in Europe's premier competition and sets up a daunting last-16 tie against one of two European heavyweights.
Arsenal qualified automatically after winning all eight of their league phase games, finishing top of the standings, while Bayern Munich secured second place in the same group.
Sulemana joins Mohammed Kudus of Tottenham Hotspur and Antoine Semenyo of Manchester City as the Ghanaian representatives confirmed for the round of 16.
The full draw for the round of 16, quarter-finals, and semi-finals will be conducted on Friday, February 27, at UEFA headquarters in Nyon. Atalanta will discover whether they face the Premier League leaders or the German giants when the ties are set.
Since joining Atalanta from Southampton in July 2025, Sulemana has made 22 appearances across all competitions, featuring in five Champions League games this season.
