Around 30 supporters of Olympique Lyonnais were attacked by ultras linked to Celta Vigo ahead of their UEFA Europa League first-leg clash on Wednesday night, according to local media reports.
The incident occurred at the Twenty Century Rock bar in the city centre of Vigo. Witnesses said masked individuals stormed the venue, smashing windows, throwing smoke bombs and assaulting Lyon supporters with sticks.
Two Lyon fans reportedly sustained head injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. A security guard at the bar was also injured during the violence before police intervened to restore order.
Celta Vigo later condemned the incident in an official statement, stressing that such behaviour does not represent the club’s values. The Spanish side said it would cooperate with authorities and take appropriate action against those responsible.
The attack has raised concerns about fan safety ahead of European matches. Similar incidents were reported in October 2025 when supporters of OGC Nice were involved in clashes during a Europa League trip to northern Spain.
Authorities are now investigating the latest incident as security measures around the fixture are expected to be reviewed.
